Job Summary
Architect and lead the development of scalable, high-performance healthcare systems using event-driven architectures like Apache Kafka, Airflow, and Flink. Own end-to-end delivery of mission-critical products, including real-time data pipelines processing millions of records per second, hybrid batch/streaming systems, and resilient microservices. Optimize system performance through distributed caching and infrastructure improvements while ensuring fault tolerance on AWS and Kubernetes. Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and drive R&D initiatives for AI/ML integration. Work in a remote, close-knit community guided by core values of Excellence, Compassion, Curiosity, and Integrity. This position requires Pacific Coast business hours (PST) and is open to candidates in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Washington.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5-7 years in software engineering
- Proficiency in Python and Java
- Experience in modern frameworks (e.g., Flask/FastAPI, Spring Boot)
- Mastery of event-driven architectures (Kafka, Kinesis)
- Experience with distributed systems
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Kubernetes)
- Strong background in building scalable, real-time data pipelines (Kafka, Flink, Airflow)
- Experience with hybrid batch/stream systems
- Hands-on experience integrating and processing healthcare data standards: FHIR, CCDA, HL7 V2/V3, DICOM
- Database design (SQL, NoSQL, DynamoDB)
- Experience with data warehousing (Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake)
- Demonstrated success in optimizing performance (latency, error rates) and reducing infrastructure costs (AWS)
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive consensus
- Must be available for working Pacific Coast business hours (PST)
- Must be located in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Utah, or Washington
- Must be eligible for E-Verify
- Must be vaccinated against influenza (if patient, client, or customer-facing role)

- Track record of innovation in real-time reporting or streaming data products
- Working knowledge of healthcare security and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, HITRUST)
