Job Summary
Senior Software Engineer role focused on building and evolving TrueLayer’s fintech-grade Pay by Bank platform. You’ll collaborate with Engineering Managers and Product Managers to size and break down new features, implement and operate scalable distributed systems using modern stacks (AWS, Kubernetes, Prometheus/Grafana) with languages such as Rust and .NET, contribute to design patterns, testing, automation, and incident response, and participate in cross-team engineering guilds. The role emphasizes ownership, mentorship, and delivering reliable services with a 99.5% availability SLA, while enabling teammates to grow technically and professionally. Hybrid work model is offered with remote options and in-office collaboration across Milan, London, and Dublin; strong openness to learning and career progression within a fintech Open Banking environment.
Required Qualifications
- Experience building distributed systems in backend languages (Rust, .NET, Java, Go)
- Familiarity with API design and at least one web framework
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL data technologies
- Understanding of microservice architecture
- Testing best practices (TDD, unit, integration)
- Experience with observability and alerting in distributed systems
- Desire to work in a fintech/open banking environment
- Willingness to work in a hybrid setup across multiple European offices
