Job Summary
Own the architecture, design, hands-on development, analysis, and maintenance of the Boeing Translation Engine software systems that transform raw, high-volume binary sensor data into actionable engineering intelligence. Implement robust integrity checks and partner with subject matter experts to build scalable analytics pipelines for time-series datasets using Apache Parquet, ORC, and HDF5. Provide technical leadership by mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and independently driving projects from initiation through delivery with minimal supervision. Evaluate emerging technologies for data processing and move successful experiments into production codebases. This role supports the Boeing Global Services organization in Seattle, WA, focusing on enabling accurate, real-time aircraft performance calculations for airline pilots worldwide.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires
- U.S. Citizenship
- 9+ years of experience with software development using either Java, C++, or Python
- 2+ years of experience working with and/or interpreting engineering data or engineering drawings
- 2+ years of experience performing quantitative or statistical analysis, data collection, preparation and interpretation
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires
- U.S. Citizenship
- An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required
- U.S. export control compliance requirements
- U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62
Desired Qualifications
- Level 4: Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 9+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 13+ years of directly related work experience OR 17+ years of related, relevant experience
- 2+ years experience developing large scale distributed software systems and cloud service deployment
- Deep experience with ARINC 429, ARINC 717, and ARINC 767 formats
- Hands-on experience with Apache Parquet, Apache ORC, HDF5, and Delta Lake
- Proven ability to own, maintain, and document core software intellectual property
- Subject matter expertise in sensor physics (transduction) and aircraft dynamics
