Senior Software Engineer – Test Automation

Job Summary
Design and evolve scalable automated testing strategies that eliminate manual QA dependency, covering unit, integration, API, and end-to-end levels. Implement end-to-end, integration, and API test automation using modern frameworks like Playwright or Cypress while optimizing suites for speed and coverage. Own test reliability by proactively detecting and eliminating flaky tests, and leverage AI tools to generate, prioritize, and optimize coverage based on risk and system behavior. Improve CI/CD confidence and release safety through targeted test coverage and rapid feedback loops. Participate in a mandatory 24/7 on-call rotation for production incident response and reliability improvements.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of features, quality, or system-level initiatives
- Strong backend development experience (Ruby, Node.js, or similar)
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, service contracts, and software design principles
- Experience working across backend services, APIs, and production systems
- Experience designing and maintaining automated tests across unit, integration, and end-to-end levels
- Familiarity with modern testing frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cypress)
- Strong ownership of code quality, debugging, and testing strategy, balancing coverage, reliability, and execution time
- Experience building and operating services in AWS or similar cloud environments
- Good understanding of cloud-native and distributed systems (microservices, scalability, resilience)
- Experience with CI/CD, production debugging, observability tools (e.g., Datadog), and incident response
- Willingness to participate in a mandatory 24/7 on-call rotation
- Experience responding to production incidents and contributing to reliability improvements and postmortems
- Experience using, or strong interest in, AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor)
- Ability to review and validate AI-generated code and suggestions
