Job Summary
Design and evolve test architecture and tooling that scales across services, implementing end-to-end, integration, and API automation to eliminate manual QA dependency. Own test strategy by determining coverage levels from unit to E2E, optimizing suites for speed and signal while reducing regression risk through targeted high-value testing. Proactively detect and eliminate flaky tests, integrate workflows into CI/CD pipelines for fast feedback loops, and leverage AI to generate, prioritize, and optimize coverage based on risk. Participate in a mandatory 24/7 on-call rotation to respond to production incidents and improve reliability.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of features, quality, or system-level initiatives
- Strong backend development experience (Ruby, Node.js, or similar)
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, service contracts, and software design principles
- Experience working across backend services, APIs, and production systems
- Experience designing and maintaining automated tests across unit, integration, and end-to-end levels
- Familiarity with modern testing frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cypress)
- Strong ownership of code quality, debugging, and testing strategy, balancing coverage, reliability, and execution time
- Experience building and operating services in AWS or similar cloud environments
- Good understanding of cloud-native and distributed systems (microservices, scalability, resilience)
- Experience with CI/CD, production debugging, observability tools (e.g., Datadog), and incident response
- Willingness to participate in a mandatory 24/7 on-call rotation
- Experience responding to production incidents and contributing to reliability improvements and postmortems
- Experience using, or strong interest in, AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor)
- Ability to review and validate AI-generated code and suggestions
