Job Summary
Own end-to-end delivery of Tactical Access backend capabilities, from API design through production operation. Design and operate services powering satellite tasking for real customers, making API design and reliability decisions that integrators depend on. Reduce production risk through improved observability with metrics, traces, and alerting, while collaborating with product managers and customers to translate business needs into technical tradeoffs. Ship API changes with versioning and backwards compatibility, ensuring no unplanned breaking changes. Contribute full-stack delivery when required and raise the engineering bar through rigorous code review and architecture discussions. This role sits at the intersection of backend engineering rigor and product ownership within ICEYE's Business Automation team, supporting defense, intelligence, and commercial users globally.
Required Qualifications
- Production backend engineering experience in Go (or a closely comparable typed language) building and operating APIs and backend systems in production
- API design and lifecycle ownership: versioning, backwards compatibility, and reasoning about customer impact of changes
- Cloud (AWS) and container/orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform)
- Data and messaging experience: PostgreSQL for storage, NATS for event-driven communication
- Observability experience: building and maintaining dashboards and alerting with Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry
- Good experience in AI-assisted engineering tools (Cursor, Devin, or similar)
- Familiarity with authentication/authorization standards (OAuth, OpenID Connect, JWT) and geospatial data (PostGIS, GeoJSON)
- Employment is subject to applicable security screening (incl. SUPO)
- Hybrid, 3 days per week in the Espoo office
