Senior Software Engineer (Sustaining Automation)

Senior Software Engineer leading greenfield automation and tooling for Chainguard's image-building platform; design end-to-end automation that orchestrates package creation, test generation, and image building; own technical vision and scale the system. Build AI-powered tooling with LLM-integrated pipelines for manifest generation, test scaffolding, and validation; design prompt architectures, evaluation loops, and quality gates. Write production Go for CLI tools, services, and integrations; develop tooling and automation to improve customer reliability (test generators, validation frameworks, quality gates). Shape the roadmap in collaboration with engineering leadership and participate in long-term planning. What we're looking for includes 5-7 years of software engineering experience, strong Go, AI/LLM integration, systems architecture, experience building developer tools or automation platforms, deep Linux/build systems knowledge, container ecosystem expertise (Docker, OCI, Kubernetes), and strong communication. Nice-to-haves include open-source contributions and familiarity with software supply chain security concepts and related tooling.
