Job Summary
Senior Software Engineer will provide engineering troubleshooting assistance to customer support teams and other development teams within Charles River and contribute to the enhancement and maintenance of one or more Charles River Investment Management Suite (IMS) modules and related applications as a member of an agile scrum team. Responsibilities include implementing user stories that meet the Definition of Done, debugging and fixing defects without adding technical debt, writing unit and functional automation, contributing to customer success, and understanding customer use of CRD products in the FinTech market. The role emphasizes ownership of software quality (code, tests, docs), backlog grooming support, risk identification for sprint commitments, cross-team collaboration, mentoring new hires, and applying technology trends to product improvements. Hybrid-remote telecommuting is permitted pursuant to company policy.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or its equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field; plus 3 years of professional software engineering experience using Java (or Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of experience in Java)
- Proven ability with Java, JavaScript, SQL, scripting languages, and distributed computing
- Strong object-oriented programming skills and experience with data structures, compiler/interpreter technologies, embedded systems, operating systems, relational databases (RDBMS), and modern programming languages
- Experience working on small to medium-sized projects with moderate supervision
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and ability to work well in a collaborative Agile team environment
- Experience working with Agile development methodology and participating in defining tasks for User Stories to meet Definition of Done
