Job Summary
Maintain and enhance the BasicSafe application by designing, building, and shipping new features across the stack. Write clean, well-structured, maintainable code and contribute to gradually modernizing the legacy codebase. Develop and consume REST APIs, optimize MySQL queries, and manage schema changes using safe, parameterized data. Collaborate with product managers, QA, and engineers to translate requirements into technical solutions, while participating in code reviews and upholding coding standards. Work remotely as a hands-on engineer comfortable with existing codebases and collaborative development workflows.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- strong, hands-on PHP expertise
- Experience maintaining and enhancing large PHP web applications, including legacy systems
- Strong MySQL skills, including query optimization and database design
- Solid object-oriented PHP knowledge with experience in legacy codebases
- Proficiency in Javascript, jQuery, and modern frameworks
- Proficient with Git and collaborative development workflows
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and remote collaboration skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
