Job Summary
Senior Software Security Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and assessment of security architecture for flight and ground software systems. Hands-on software engineer first, with a focus on building security into the product, including coding security services and integrating automated controls into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring architecture meets ATO requirements. Responsibilities include architecture ground-up design for Zero Trust security in flight software, hardening onboard Linux systems, securing spacecraft networks, implementing SDLC security controls (SAST/DAST, SCA, SBOM, container scanning with tools like SonarQube), leading NIST SP 800-53 / 800-171 compliance, threat modeling, code audits, and collaboration with ISSM to prepare systems for ATO. Mentoring engineers in secure development practices and balancing security with embedded system constraints.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- at least 3 years in a security-focused role
- deep understanding of modern security principles (DevSecOps, Zero Trust, container security)
- demonstrable expertise in security domains (network, application, or cryptography)
- hands-on scripting/programming (Python, Bash, C++)
- experience with security controls for NIST SP 800-53 / 800-171
- container security and vulnerability scanning
- current security certifications (Security+, CySA+, GSEC, CASP, CISSP)
- active security clearance
