Job Summary
Develop and integrate features interacting with virtualization and cloud platforms like VMware vSphere, Nutanix, and bare-metal hosts. Build and maintain CI/CD automation, tooling, and pipelines for continuous delivery while troubleshooting issues across Linux systems, Kubernetes controllers, and hardware nodes. Design backend APIs using REST/gRPC with OpenAPI specifications and improve performance, observability, and reliability for large-scale distributed systems on Kubernetes and OpenShift. Collaborate on architecture design, code reviews, and engineering best practices. Requires five years of experience in Go or Python, distributed systems, and Kubernetes-based platforms, plus four years with virtualization and cloud management APIs. Salary range $157,248 – $195,680/year.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Communications Engineering or related field
- five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related role
- five (5) years of experience with programming in Go or Python programming languages
- five (5) years of experience with designing and developing distributed or large-scale backend systems
- five (5) years of experience with developing features for Kubernetes-based platforms, including controller-runtime patterns, reconciliation loops, CRDs, and OpenShift-specific extensions such as Machine API and cluster operators
- five (5) years of experience with cloud-native architectures, microservices, and containerized environments
- five (5) years of experience with designing, developing, and integrating backend APIs (REST or gRPC), including defining API schemas, implementing service-to-service communication, and using OpenAPI/Swagger specifications
- four (4) years of experience with virtualization or cloud platforms, including VMware vSphere and Nutanix, as well as Prism Central and related management APIs
- four (4) years of experience with working with bare-metal systems, hardware provisioning, or Linux system-level debugging
- three (3) years of experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, specifically Prow and Jenkins
- work may be performed within normal commuting distance from the Red Hat, LLC office in Raleigh, NC
