Job Summary
Build the system that gives AI agents context to query enterprise data correctly and implement guardrails for trustworthy analytics. Design and implement orchestration systems for agents interacting with the real world, including API integrations, rate limiting, OAuth passthrough, model routing, scheduling, and token optimization. Architect AI-centric ETL pipelines for data lakehouses enabling large-scale analytics with minimal dedicated data engineering resources. This zero-to-one, high-ownership role shapes the data foundation powering AI-driven analytics at scale within a ~40-person company. Candidates must have 4+ years of backend or platform engineering experience building scalable distributed systems, with strong proficiency in Golang and hands-on experience with gRPC, Trino, Kubernetes, DuckDB, and PostgreSQL.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of practical experience as a backend or platform engineer building scalable distributed systems
- Strong proficiency in Golang
- Hands-on experience with gRPC/ConnectRPC
- Hands-on experience with Trino
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes
- Hands-on experience with DuckDB
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in a distributed data platform environment
- Experience designing or implementing ETL pipelines
- Experience designing or implementing data modeling
- Experience designing or implementing schema design for data platforms
- Experience building orchestration systems for distributed agents
- Experience with API integrations
- Experience with rate limiting
- Experience with OAuth
- Experience with model routing
- Experience with scheduling
- Experience with token optimization
- Prior experience at an early-stage startup
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or comparable professional experience
- Strong CS fundamentals

- This role is on-site in New York City, NY
- Candidates must be willing and able to work in-office full-time
- Fully remote arrangements are not available for this position
