Job Summary
Senior Software Engineer (Machine Learning) to join Disney's Content Platforms Engineering team focusing on backend AI/ML workflows with emphasis on computer vision and ML. Responsibilities include collaborating with global product/tech teams, designing and building AI-powered solutions from prototypes to production, optimizing LLMs, maintaining documentation of technical decisions and trade-offs, ensuring scalable solutions aligned with business needs, and mentoring junior engineers. Required BA/BS in CS or equivalent, 4+ years in software engineering with AI/ML emphasis, Python proficiency, experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow and ML project lifecycle, cloud ML services (AWS S3, EC2/Fargate, Lambda, Bedrock), Agile/Scrum, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), GitLab-CI, Terraform/CloudFormation, and strong communication skills. Required Qualifications
- BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 4+ years of software engineering experience with a recent focus on AI/ML
- Proficiency in Python
- Hands-on experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow and/or fine-tuning LLMs
- Experience with data processing, model selection, training, deployment, and monitoring
- Experience integrating ML models into production systems
- Experience with cloud platforms and ML services (e.g., AWS S3, EC2/Fargate, Lambda, Bedrock)
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Strong communication skills
- Familiarity with GitLab-CI and Terraform/CloudFormation
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience across full lifecycle of application development including testing and documentation
- Experience with coding agents such as Kiro and Claude (and understanding when not to use them)
