Job Summary
Design and implement scalable middleware APIs and backend services using Java (Spring Boot) and Golang to support thousands of requests per second across Pluto TV. Optimize and maintain high-performance systems on AWS and GCP, leveraging technologies like EKS, ECS, Lambda, Pub/Sub, and Cloud SQL. Participate in system design, architecture reviews, and technical decision-making while advocating for coding excellence and best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to contribute to technical roadmaps and long-term platform strategies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 9+ years of software development experience
- 5+ years of experience building highly scalable APIs and backend services capable of processing thousands of RPS
- Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot
- Professional experience developing applications using Golang
- 3+ years of experience building containerized applications using technologies such as Docker
- Hands-on experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, EKS, ECS, or GKE
- Experience with GCP technologies including: Pub/Sub, Kubernetes (GKE), Cloud SQL / MySQL, YugabyteDB
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and distributed systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in global, cross-functional environments
Desired Qualifications
- Additional experience in advanced Java development and object-oriented programming concepts
- Prior experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures
- Deep expertise in GCP services, especially Pub/Sub, GKE, MySQL, and Cloud-native solutions
- Proven success designing, developing, and deploying services that support: Thousands of requests per second (RPS), Millions of monthly active users (MAUs)
- Intermediate to expert-level knowledge of: Amazon EKS, Google GKE, Vanilla Kubernetes
- Experience operating large-scale, mission-critical production systems
