Job Summary
Senior Software Engineer (Linux kernel - Networking) with hands-on development of Linux kernel device drivers focusing on networking (netdev) subsystems. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining kernel device drivers, contributing to upstreaming with patch preparation and submission, participating in root cause analysis and providing timely fixes for customer and internal issues, and analyzing/optimizing kernel driver performance for latency, throughput, and scalability. Requires strong C programming skills, experience in Linux kernel networking, familiarity with the upstreaming process, PCIe/SRIOV concepts, memory management, synchronization, interrupts handling, and IOMMU concepts. Educational path includes a Bachelor's degree in CS/EE or related fields; advanced degrees (Master’s/PhD) are also noted as part of the candidate pool. The team is based in Hyderabad and Bangalore, India, and joins Marvell’s Linux kernel networking development for Octeon silicon devices, with emphasis on collaboration across hardware, software, and marketing, and adherence to interview integrity and export-control considerations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering or related fields
- 3-5 years of related professional experience
- Good experience in Linux kernel device driver development
- Hands-on experience with Linux kernel networking (netdev) driver development
- Familiarity with PCIe concepts, SRIOV capability, knowledge of Linux PCIe subsystem
- Strong programming skills in C
- Good problem-solving, debugging and documentation skills
- Master’s degree and/or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields with 2 years of experience
