Senior Software Engineer – Kubernetes Platform Engineering, Service Mesh & Developer Platforms (Golang APIs)

Job Summary

Design and deliver next-generation cloud-native platform capabilities for the bank's enterprise container ecosystem, leading architecture for Kubernetes automation, service mesh enablement, and CI/CD modernization. Own end-to-end delivery of complex features including API-driven automation, self-service onboarding, and governance across Red Hat OpenShift, Amazon EKS, and Azure AKS. Establish engineering standards and automation patterns while partnering with SRE, DevOps, and application teams to accelerate container adoption and strengthen compliance. Provide technical mentorship and drive strategic initiatives in GitOps, observability, and hybrid cloud enablement to shape the long-term roadmap of the Foundational Platform Engineering team.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, cloud-native development, or distributed systems engineering
  • Strong proficiency in Golang (Go) with hands-on experience building APIs, microservices, controllers, operators, and automation solutions
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and/or Red Hat OpenShift (OCP) in enterprise production environments
  • Experience designing, deploying, and supporting cloud-native applications and platform services
  • Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Tekton, Argo CD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or similar platforms
  • Experience implementing and supporting GitOps-based deployment models
  • Hands-on experience with Service Mesh technologies such as Istio, Consul, Linkerd, or equivalent service networking solutions
  • Strong understanding of: Microservices architecture
  • Distributed systems design
  • Container technologies (Docker/OCI)
  • API-first development principles
  • Cloud-native application patterns
  • Experience integrating enterprise services including: Identity & Access Management (IAM)
  • Secrets Management (Vault or equivalent)
  • Service Discovery
  • Security and Compliance controls
  • Platform onboarding workflows
  • Experience with monitoring, observability, and troubleshooting tools such as: Prometheus
  • Grafana
  • Dynatrace
  • OpenTelemetry
  • Elasticsearch/Splunk
  • Jaeger or distributed tracing platforms
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, performance tuning, and root-cause analysis skills
  • Experience working collaboratively with Platform Engineering, SRE, DevOps, Infrastructure, Security, and Application Development teams
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical solutions
  • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and ability to deliver solutions in large-scale enterprise environments

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Kubernetes platforms such as OpenShift, EKS, AKS, Rancher, GKE, or Tanzu
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Helm)
  • Experience developing Kubernetes operators, controllers, or platform APIs
  • Familiarity with enterprise networking and security concepts including: Ingress/Egress API Gateways
  • TLS/mTLS
  • Zero Trust architectures
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud and multi-cluster environments
  • Exposure to financial services or other highly regulated industries
  • Experience building self-service platform capabilities and developer enablement solutions
  • Experience driving automation initiatives that improve developer productivity, operational efficiency, and platform reliability
  • Kubernetes certifications such as CKA, CKAD, or CKS are a plus
  • Strong ownership mindset and accountability
  • Passion for automation and platform engineering
