Job Summary
Senior Software Engineer - Java Backend with deep experience in financial services software. Lead technical contributions to the enhancement and maintenance of Charles River IMS components within an Agile scrum team. Independently analyze, design, develop, test, and debug large-scale software enhancements using Java, C#, SQL, JavaScript and related technologies; contribute to cloud-native services, microservice architectures, Kubernetes, and Kafka-based messaging. Provide troubleshooting support to customer support teams, collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to deliver simple, sustainable solutions, and guide architecture discussions. Demonstrate expert-level debugging and testing capabilities (unit and automation tests), participate in code reviews, and support agile ceremonies. Strong background in multi-tier, high-performance database applications and the financial services domain (Portfolio Management, Trading, Compliance, Post-Trade, Wealth Management) with excellent written and verbal communication skills; thrives in a collaborative team environment and contributes to development methodologies and processes.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related technical field; MS degree strongly preferred
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible professional software engineering experience
- Minimum 6 years of experience in financial services developing solutions for Portfolio Management, Trading, Compliance, Post-Trade, IBOR or Wealth Management desired
- Authoritative experience with object-oriented programming, compiler or interpreter technologies, embedded systems, operating systems, relational databases (RDBMS), scripting and modern programming languages
- Experience with cloud-native services (Azure experience a bonus)
- Experience with microservices architectures and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of Kafka and message-based systems
- Experience with Snowflake
- Strong problem solving and communication skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative Agile environment
- Experience writing unit and automation tests; participate in code reviews and test methodology frameworks
- Ability to plan and coordinate cross-team activities
