Job Summary
Own and deliver major capabilities within the Discovery Platform, managing the full lifecycle from design and development to deployment and ongoing operation of interactive customer experiences and backend data systems. Collaborate with bioinformatics and biology teams to understand customer needs, while working alongside ETL and algorithm teams that transform raw instrument data into protein quantification results. Drive technical design, architecture decisions, and code reviews to maintain high standards for security, reliability, and scale, while mentoring engineers and embracing AI as a collaborative partner across the software development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in a high-performing software engineering organization
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
- Strong command of Python/FastAPI
- Strong command of React/TypeScript
- Strong command of AWS cloud services
- Solid experience with relational databases
- Understanding of columnar data stores
- Customer obsessed mindset
- Focused on outcomes mindset
- Ability to design software with its full lifecycle in mind
- Strong opinions about observability
- Ability to confidently operate, monitor, and evolve software long after it ships
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with Parquet
- Familiarity with query engines such as AWS Athena
- Skill at prompting and critically evaluating AI-generated work
- Ability to actively explore new ways AI can improve how we build and operate software
