Job Summary
Senior Software Engineer II at Freenome responsible for leading end-to-end platform initiatives, collaborating with engineers, scientists, product managers, and business teams to build scalable, multi-tenant data lakehouse platform components, and advancing analytics and experimentation via ML Ops, data processing, and semantic data layers. Focus areas include integrating open-source, enterprise, and SaaS technologies, enabling fine-grained data governance and workload isolation, shaping platform architecture, and promoting developer effectiveness and platform usability. The role emphasizes partnership across teams, design and code reviews, system design, and contributing to a strong culture of accountability, learning, and psychological safety. Remote work is allowed, with a focus on delivering reliable production systems and improving platform platforms, observability, performance, and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience building and operating highly reliable production software systems
- Proficiency with Python
- Experience with Linux fundamentals including networking and containerization
- Hands-on experience operating cloud services, storage and compute using IaC with at least one major cloud provider (Azure or GCP)
- Operational experience managing Kubernetes clusters (thousands of nodes)
- BS or higher in computer science or related technical field, or comparable experience
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Comfort with cross-functional collaboration and navigating tradeoffs
