Senior Software Engineer I (Java)

Job Summary
Lead the full lifecycle of software projects, including design, implementation, testing, and deployment for products sold by Inductive Automation. Independently manage engineering tasks while improving code structure, maintaining documentation, and ensuring quality standards. Collaborate with adjacent teams to solve problems, conduct code reviews, and assist in teaching other engineers. Prioritize unowned work to enable faster team velocity and assume IC leadership roles such as Product Lead or Scrum Master when applicable. This full-time hybrid position requires two days of in-office collaboration per week in Folsom, CA, for candidates in specific Northern California counties.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of software engineering or software development experience, preferably in a related field
- A comprehensive understanding of computer science concepts and ability to apply expertise in object-oriented design, multi-threaded architecture, data structures, algorithms, and cybersecurity
- Hands-on programming experience using relevant languages (Java and/or Typescript)
- Experience using relevant tool suites. (IntelliJ or equivalent, Git, Webpack)
- Proficiency in SQL or a relational database (querying, schema design, stored procedures)
- Experience ingesting data at scale (high-volume, high-frequency, or streaming data pipelines)
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Passionate about building applications that delight users
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working on a team using agile methodologies
- Proper utilization of programming concepts to support highly responsive and performant applications, including concurrency and multi-threading
- Must be located in or near Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer, Yolo, or Alameda Counties who can commute to our Folsom, CA office
- Verification of US employment eligibility required
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with time-series data concepts (compression, interpolation, aggregation, deadband)
- Knowledge of industrial data standards (OPC-DA, OPC-UA, MQTT, Modbus)
- Experience writing historian connectors, adapters, or APIs
- Background in data pipeline or ETL development for operational data
