Senior Software Engineer, Hyperscale Build Environments and Tools

Job Summary

Design and maintain build orchestration systems and tooling for exabyte-scale customer environments. Drive improvements to build speed, reliability, and reproducibility across local development and CI workflows while owning containerized build environments for consistent isolation. Diagnose build-graph correctness issues, flaky builds, and incremental regressions, specifically tackling large-scale C/C++ build challenges like dependency pruning and linking tradeoffs. Partner with tech leads to shape the technical roadmap for build systems and collaborate across the Hyperscale Line of Business to prioritize fixes aligned with product delivery. Establish operational excellence practices including observability, incident response, and change management, using engineering metrics to track performance and developer experience. Mentor team members and uphold high technical standards within a Santa Clara in-office environment.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • experience in infrastructure, developer productivity, build systems, or platform engineering
  • Strong understanding of modern build systems and toolchains
  • Hands-on experience with build systems and toolchains such as Make, CMake, or custom/in-house build orchestration tools
  • Experience with large-scale C/C++ builds
  • Hands-on familiarity with Linux-based development environments, Docker, and the operational concerns of maintaining consistent build images and execution environments
  • Experience with CI pipelines and integrating build tooling into continuous integration workflows
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with adjacent platform teams
  • Must be able to work from the Santa Clara office

Desired Qualifications

  • experience in dependency management, build-graph correctness, incremental and reproducible builds, artifact generation, and build isolation
  • Experience with large-scale C/C++ builds, including dependency pruning, static/dynamic linking tradeoffs, and reproducible containerized builds
  • Experience using engineering metrics to evaluate and improve build performance, reliability, and developer experience
