Job Summary
Senior Software Engineer on CNN's Growth Team building features for registered users using modern JavaScript stack (JavaScript/ES6+, Node, Python, Svelte, Sass) and AWS. Collaborate with product, design, analytics, and marketing to develop direct-to-consumer subscription features, optimize code for performance and scalability, and design APIs for data exchange between client and server. Responsibilities include implementing front-end interfaces, maintaining server-side logic, ensuring cross-browser compatibility, integrating 3rd-party libraries, and maintaining a security-first mindset while working in an Agile environment. The role emphasizes contributing to architecture and code reviews, and partnering with teams to drive customer acquisition and engagement on CNN’s digital platforms.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with JavaScript, including ES6/7 and asynchronous JavaScript
- 5+ years of experience building production systems
- Experience with performance monitoring/analytics tools like Datadog or New Relic
- Solid understanding of software data structures and algorithms
- Experience delivering cross-functional collaboration across product, design, analytics, and marketing
- Experience with both client- and server-side technologies
- Ability to review priorities and break down problems into tasks with peers
- Experience working in Agile methodologies
