Senior Software Engineer - Gateway (Java, AWS)

Job Summary
Build and maintain PPRO's main payment processing engine exposed via the PPRO API, owning end-to-end products from design through production rollout. Execute with a "you build it, you run it" mindset, potentially participating in an on-call rotation, while sharing knowledge to help the team evolve best practices. Collaborate closely in an agile team using pair programming, asynchronous communication over ADRs and RFCs, and on-demand brainstorming sessions to solve real problems at massive scale using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS Cloud components. The Gateway team in Berlin ensures the platform remains scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-efficient while reducing integration efforts for customers.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in designing and building scalable products and services
- Working proficiency in English
- Java
- Spring Boot
- REST APIs
- AWS Cloud components such as EKS, DynamoDB, Kinesis and OpenSearch
- Event-driven microservice architecture
- Observability with Datadog
- IaC via Terraform
- Hybrid working - 3 days / week on site expectation
- 30-day holiday allowance
