Senior Software Engineer, Fan Engagement

Job Summary
Lead the design and delivery of complex backend systems powering fan-facing content and live sports data. Own system architecture decisions to balance scalability, reliability, and maintainability while driving execution across multiple sprints. Collaborate with product and design teams to influence scope and user outcomes, proactively identifying technical risks and mitigation strategies. Establish best practices in code quality, testing, and observability while mentoring engineers through technical challenges and career growth. Improve team processes, tooling, and development practices to increase overall effectiveness. Based in Medellín with an office-first culture, this role requires fixed-day in-office attendance.
Required Qualifications
- Experience designing and delivering production systems in a professional or comparable environment
- Experience owning system design and contributing to architectural decisions, with a strong understanding of scalability, performance, and reliability principles
- Proven ability to lead technical execution of projects from concept to delivery
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and make sound technical decisions
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver user-focused outcomes
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts and trade-offs
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to team development practices
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English
- This role is based in Medellín and is required to work from our office on fixed days every week
Desired Qualifications
- Strong proficiency with the Java Virtual Machine (JVM), experience with Kotlin or Spring a bonus
- Experience working with cloud systems, with experience specifically with AWS or Kubernetes being a plus
- Experience leading multi-sprint or cross-team initiatives
- Familiarity with distributed systems and large-scale architectures
- Exposure to defining or improving engineering standards, tooling, or processes
- Experience influencing product direction through technical insight
