Job Summary
Ship features end-to-end for Tavus's Conversational Video Interface, transforming loosely defined product priorities into shipped architecture. Partner with Research to integrate state-of-the-art real-time models, including voice localization and multilingual sentence endpointing. Fix flaky processes and slow paths autonomously without tickets or permission. Own the delivery of Browser Control, Magic Canvas, and the Memories and Knowledge Base context layer. Optimize utterance-to-utterance latency to shave hundreds of milliseconds off conversational turns. This role runs live code in real-time conversations between people and PALs, requiring deep Python concurrency skills and a track record of owning decisions in a fast-moving, research-backed environment.
Required Qualifications
- Fluent in Python, with real depth in concurrent programs
- Low-level concepts (asyncio, multiprocessing, event loops, the GIL, shared memory)
- Experience building real-time systems, whether video, audio, or model inference
- Knowledge of millisecond latency budgets
- Senior track record: setting direction, owning decisions, and getting things over the finish line
- Ability to explain complex things clearly
- Ability to teach the people around you
- Proactive behavior: fixing issues without being asked
- Autonomy: figuring out what 'done' means for loosely defined projects
- Ability to take on projects outside direct experience
- Ability to adapt as priorities evolve
- Ability to hold a high bar for product feel, clean code, and clever architecture
