Job Summary
Develop and design innovative solutions to scale Reddit's Core API Platform, building services that handle hundreds of thousands of transactions per second at 5+ nines of availability. Mentor and coach junior engineers to achieve mission goals while optimizing media delivery and performance for hundreds of millions of global users. Build platform API projects that support listings, posts, comments, and media features, ensuring high uptime and strong system performance. Partner with teams in a fully remote environment to build a roadmap matching the needs of a growing engineering organization.
Required Qualifications
- Software development experience in Golang or Python
- 5+ years of experience with large-scale, mission-critical distributed systems
- Excellent communication skills
- Familiarity with API platform service architectures
- History of building clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Media delivery expertise from back end systems to the user
- Experience optimizing media performance, scalability, and delivery by improving different stages of the stack
