Job Summary
Shape and improve the PlayStation and Xbox experience that millions of players see daily by translating ambiguous product ideas into well-scoped, high-quality engineering plans. Raise the engineering bar through rigorous code review, proactive mentorship of junior engineers, and the standards you set in your own code. Drive platform-level investments that benefit the broader engineering organization and work with Xbox and PlayStation counterparts to ensure feature parity and platform-specific excellence. This role requires 5+ years of experience building client software with strong C++ proficiency and direct experience shipping on PlayStation or Xbox. Candidates must possess strong debugging instincts for profiling and diagnosing hard problems across the full client stack and use metrics, logging, and experimentation to evaluate feature health. The position is onsite Tuesday through Thursday in San Mateo, CA, with a base salary range of $196,750 to $243,290 USD.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience building and shipping client software
- strong C++ proficiency
- Client platform expertise: hands-on experience delivering on console, desktop, or mobile
- Direct experience shipping on PlayStation or Xbox
- Strong debugging instincts: you're comfortable profiling, tracing, and diagnosing hard problems across the full client stack, including platform-specific issues unique to console hardware
- Data fluency: you use metrics, logging, and experimentation to evaluate feature health, drive decisions, and measure player impact
- Ownership and self-direction: you can take an ambiguous problem, break it down, and drive it to completion without heavy oversight
- Collaborative by nature: you communicate clearly, build trust across functions, and make the engineers around you better
- United States work authorization
