Job Summary
Design, build, ship, analyze, and maintain scalable, distributed, enterprise software solutions that record and consume telemetry data for the Meraki Dashboard. Develop and maintain backend components using C++ in Linux environments, focusing on reliability, performance, scalability, and observability. Work with internal groups to understand data requirements and implement CI/CD pipelines with containerization and Kubernetes. Manage relational databases using SQL and integrate automated testing frameworks within the software development lifecycle. This role supports the Time Series Data team, handling over 10 billion daily requests to power global network insights.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Person (i.e. U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee)
- U.S. citizen
- Experience analyzing, scaling, troubleshooting, and debugging distributed systems
- Experience developing software using C++11 or newer standards
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines (GitLab or GitHub)
- Experience deploying applications using containerization and Kubernetes
- Experience designing and querying relational databases using SQL (PostgreSQL or MySQL)
- Experience utilizing automated testing frameworks
- Experience utilizing LLM-based coding assistants within the software development lifecycle
Desired Qualifications
- Programming experience in Rust
- Programming experience in Scala
- Programming experience in Python
- Experience with observability tooling such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana
- Experience with feature flagging tools such as Launch Darkly
- Experience maintaining database software
- Experience or willingness to working in an agile environment (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
- Able to comment on the difference between 'prompt engineering', 'context engineering', and 'agentic engineering'
