Job Summary
Senior Software Engineer Backend at mySugr/Roche in Vienna, focusing on backend services with Java 21+ and Spring Boot 3+ within the Platform Engineering/navify ecosystem. Collaborate with engineers, designers, product owners and QA to deliver high-quality software with an emphasis on clean, stable, and performant code. Work with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), OpenID Connect-based identity and access management (Keycloak or similar), and cloud infrastructure (AWS or other providers). Build AI/LLM-powered backend services, participate in code reviews, and adhere to CI/CD principles in an agile, cross-functional team. Location: Vienna with flexible working hours and home-office policies; salary disclosed per local collective agreement of EUR 3,843 gross per month with potential higher offers, and Roche as an equal opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience as a software engineer including 2 years as a backend engineer
- Proficiency in Java 21+ and Spring Boot 3+
- Strong SQL experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL)
- Experience with OpenID Connect and Keycloak or other SSO solutions
- Experience building AI/LLM-powered backend services and tools
- Experience with AWS or other cloud providers
- Ability to write clean, stable, testable, and performant backend code
- Strong technical design skills and understanding of scalable architectures
- Proficiency in English communication; written and verbal
- Willingness to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
- Understanding of medical, security, and privacy regulations (bonus)
- Knowledge of diabetes industry or related health domains (bonus)
- Familiarity with automation/testing tools (bonus)
- Infra as Code (Terraform) and GitHub Actions (bonus)
- Selenium/Selenide (bonus)
