Job Summary
Own quarterly technical direction for the Identity team, translating business goals into concrete projects while managing cross-cutting risks and tradeoffs. Lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems, ensuring delivery support and fostering a culture of quality through improved code review and design standards. Collaborate with product, design, and analytics to articulate technical constraints and partner on decisions that balance risks and opportunities. Proactively identify and resolve project, process, technology, or business issues, while maintaining system availability through metrics monitoring and on-call efforts. Mentor team members, support new hires, and contribute to high-signal hiring to drive long-term execution and operational health.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale
- Experience using languages like Python or Kotlin
- Track record of developing highly available distributed systems
- Experience using technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes
- Experience defining a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component
- Ability to write high quality code that is easily understood and used by others
- Proficiency at making significant changes in a large code base
- Experience developing a suite of tools and practices that enable safe changes in a large code base
- Experience demonstrating ownership of growth
- Proactive seeking of feedback from the team, manager, and stakeholders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to support effective collaboration with a global engineering team
- Ability to work remotely in Poland
- Ability to work out of an assigned Affirm office occasionally
