Job Summary
Senior Software Engineer on Upstart’s Auto Direct team to build and improve core product features for the Auto Secured Personal Loan product, including customer-facing funnel enhancements, eligibility logic, and workflow automation. Collaborates with product, operations, risk, and engineering to balance user experience with risk controls and regulatory requirements, delivering scalable, maintainable systems in a fintech, regulated environment. Contributes to technical direction, enhances conversion, and supports automated workflows to scale originations and product expansion.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 4+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience designing, building, testing, and deploying production software systems
- Experience developing customer-facing product features, platform capabilities, or backend services in a production environment
- Experience working with cross-functional partners such as product management, design, analytics, operations, legal, or compliance
- Experience making technical tradeoffs across system reliability, maintainability, scalability, and product delivery timelines
