Senior Software Engineer (API Ops)

Job Summary
Design, develop, and build the Kong API Operations toolset, starting with the deck CLI for configuration management and drift detection. Keep up with Kong's API runtimes and enable new features, while shaping the technical direction for the toolset's evolution. Make CLI tools work for humans and automation within GitHub Actions and Jenkins, shipping API changes across multiple tools without manual toil. Collaborate with product leadership to define strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment between engineering efforts and business goals. Assist in hiring and mentor the team as you join the Bangalore-based API Operations group. Work in a hybrid fashion with three days in the office, bringing strong Golang skills and prior operations experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in building high performance software with Golang
- Hands-on experience with at least one of the major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Prior operations experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools
- Experience building APIs, standardizing APIs in large organizations, and creating API workflows
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate across teams
- Desire to join a fast-paced pre-IPO startup and the ability to move with high velocity to get things done
- Ability to work in hybrid fashion with three days a week in the office
