Job Summary
Conduct end-to-end development, testing, and maintenance of AI and insurance products using React, TypeScript, Node.js, Python, and cloud infrastructure. Troubleshoot technical, data, and integration issues during development and deployment while driving improvements to internal tooling, engineering standards, and reusable frameworks. Collaborate with ML engineers, scientists, and product managers to define requirements, then lead projects, mentor peers, and assume Technical Lead or Line Manager duties as needed. Communicate trade-offs and progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders within a remote-first, agile environment.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive commercial software experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering or another relevant STEM discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- Familiarity with our core stack, with strong experience in at least 2 components: Python, Typescript, Relational databases, APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, Kubeflow, AWS
- Strong core software engineering and DevOps skills, including CI/CD, Version control, containerisation and cloud deployment
- Knowledgeable on engineering best practices and comfortable with producing clean, maintainable, well-tested code
- Comfortable with code review and giving clear, actionable, constructive feedback to others
- Highly effective when working in a remote-first, iterative agile environment
- Experience working across the lifecycle from experimentation and prototyping through to integration and operationalisation
- Ability to work effectively in technically complex and ambiguous environments involving multiple stakeholders
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues and trade-offs clearly to non-specialists
Desired Qualifications
- Experience architecting and designing complex distributed software systems for cloud environments
- Experience developing and deploying machine learning, AI or data-driven systems in production or near-production settings
- Technical Lead and/or Line Manager experience
