On-siteSan Jose, California, United States
Job Summary
Lead frontend architecture and rendering system design for a large-scale, real-time collaborative whiteboard, defining performance standards for frame rate, memory efficiency, and latency under multi-user concurrency. Design distributed state management frameworks leveraging CRDTs, OT, and hybrid conflict-resolution strategies, while conducting in-depth performance investigations using browser profiling tools and low-level trace analysis. Drive architectural reviews to ensure consistency, modularity, and scalability across all whiteboard subsystems, and mentor engineers in advanced rendering, concurrency control, and state synchronization techniques. Collaborate with backend, design, and product partners to translate complex technical constraints into product decisions. Requires seven years of expert-level proficiency in Chrome DevTools, Canvas/WebGL rendering, and hybrid client architectures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, a related field, or a foreign degree equivalent
- 7 years of experience in job offered or related occupation
- 7 years of experience with expert-level proficiency with Chrome DevTools (Performance, Memory, Network, Rendering, Long Tasks, and CPU profiling) for driving deep performance investigations of complex React and Canvas-based applications, translating profiling data into systemic, long-term optimizations
- 7 years of experience utilizing Canvas, WebGL, or GPU-based rendering systems rendering to efficiently render, update, and animate large numbers of whiteboard objects in real time, while ensuring high performance, low latency, and smooth user interactions
- 7 years of experience utilizing hybrid text rendering pipelines combining DOM-based editors (e.g., Quill.js) with GPU-accelerated Canvas rendering using CanvasKit or Skia to support rich text editing while enabling high-performance rendering
- 7 years of strong hands-on experience in client–WebView communication using JavaScript bridges, enabling reliable message passing between native clients and embedded web applications, including event handling, data exchange, and lifecycle coordination
- 7 years of experience utilizing hybrid client architectures involving WebView–native communication, including message routing, data serialization through JSBridge interfaces
- 7 years of experience with profiling and optimizing rendering performance using Chrome DevTools including Flame charts, Heap snapshot, FPS meter etc.
- 7 years of experience with designing large-scale, distributed UI systems with strict performance and memory requirements
- Telecommuting Work arrangement permitted: position may work in various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.
- Position does not require domestic or international travel
