Job Summary
Design, develop, and support full-stack applications using Java Spring Boot and React within an API-first, cloud-native environment. Integrate APIs and support legacy system modernisation while ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance. Collaborate with Product Owners, Delivery Managers, and Architects in agile squads to contribute to CI/CD pipelines and apply TDD/BDD practices. Implement Secure by Design principles, address OWASP Top 10 risks, and promote observability and incident management best practices. Mentor team members and produce clear technical documentation. This role is based in Swansea, South Wales, with a flexible hybrid model of three days onsite.
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience as a Full Stack Developer in large-scale or public sector environments
- Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and building API-first microservices
- Proficiency in React.js and accessible UI development (WCAG 2.2)
- Experience with AWS cloud services (API Gateway, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB)
- Solid understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)
- Experience across the full digital delivery lifecycle (Discovery → Live)
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, Terraform, Docker/Kubernetes
- Eligibility for SC Clearance
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Node.js (Serverless) or Ruby on Rails
- Exposure to legacy modernisation (mainframe, AIX, Oracle)
- Integration experience with GOV.UK services (Notify, Pay, One Login)
- Familiarity with GDS Service Standard and service assessments
