Senior Social Worker - Oncology

Job Summary

Support clinic teams and oncology patients/caregivers by providing direct services in response to referrals and scheduled social support visits with newly diagnosed patients. Initiate interventions addressing assessment, financial need, housing, legal issues, drug/alcohol concerns, mental health, coping, and end-of-life planning while coordinating with community resources and Medicaid brokers. Create and maintain a resource and referral library for each major diagnosis seen in the covered clinics. Participate as an interdisciplinary team member, collaborate on appropriate referrals, and provide education to healthcare providers about the role of social work. This temporary, multi-site hybrid position spans October 2026 to June 2027, involving 20 hours per week across the NW Breast Surgery Center, NW Gyn Onc Clinic, and remote work.

Required Qualifications

  • Master of Social Work Degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education
  • one year of full-time social work experience in a health care setting
  • Experience can include a practicum placement as part of a social work training program and/or employment experience
  • Within 90 days of hire must hold one of the following credentials issued by the state of Washington: Agency Affiliated Counselor
  • Within 90 days of hire must hold one of the following credentials issued by the state of Washington: Licensed Social Work Associate -Advanced
  • Within 90 days of hire must hold one of the following credentials issued by the state of Washington: Licensed Social Work Associate - Independent Clinical
  • Within 90 days of hire must hold one of the following credentials issued by the state of Washington: Licensed Advance Social Worker
  • Within 90 days of hire must hold one of the following credentials issued by the state of Washington: Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker

Desired Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in a hospital setting providing direct service to oncology patients
