Job Summary
Monitor and respond to alerts in the SIEM tool, investigate incidents using network traffic analysis, log review, and packet sniffing, and recommend actions to safeguard U.S. Courts systems. Lead a team of three SOC analysts as a resource management analyst, mentoring staff while managing incident response workflows. Utilize Splunk for advanced queries, Snort IDS events, and PCAP analysis to create logical narratives of observed behavior. This role requires six years of SOC experience and involves working in shifts including 2nd shift (3 PM–11:30 PM). The position is based in Washington, DC, with a requirement for U.S. citizenship.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship
- 6+ years of working in a SOC environment
- 6+ years of network intrusion detection experience
- Ability to investigate and evaluate network traffic
- Ability to read and interpret log and sniffer packets
- Ability to use Wireshark
- Ability to analyze data from a variety of sources over time
- Ability to create a logical narrative of observed behavior
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
- Lead role capability
- Ability to function as a resource management analyst
- Ability to mentor and manage a team of 3 SOC analysts
- 6+ years experience performing intrusion detection analytics
- Experience examining logs and console events
- Experience with Splunk
- Experience with Snort based IDS events
- Experience with PCAP
- Experience with web server log review
- Experience working in a SIEM environment
- U.S. Citizenship
