Job Summary
Senior Site Reliability Engineer to scale Honeycomb's backend systems for high-volume customers, participate in cross-team efforts to improve reliability and performance, and help drive the organization’s cross-Atlantic engineering culture. You’ll serve in on-call rotations as part of a follow-the-sun model for the EU side, act as an Incident Commander, and contribute to transparent communication across teams. Optional external ambassador activities include blog posts and conference talks in coordination with the DevRel team. You’ll bring strong AWS and Kubernetes expertise, Helm and Terraform, CI/CD discipline, and software engineering experience (Golang a plus), plus the ability to analyze costs, operate in ambiguous environments, and collaborate with distributed teams to maintain reliable systems and data-driven decision making.
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience in AWS and Kubernetes
- Experience performing cost analysis and reduction
- Solid Helm, Terraform, and CI/CD experience
- Project management skills
- Software engineering experience (Golang is a plus)
- Experience with Kafka or other high-volume distributed systems
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Familiarity with observability concepts (SLOs, instrumentation)
- Experience working in geographically distributed teams
