Job Summary
Lead quarry operations in the Western Downs region, ensuring safety compliance with the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999 while driving cost and production objectives. Manage resources effectively and deliver sustainable business outcomes by leading a committed team focused on continuous improvement. Balance safety, production, and commercial targets to influence the ongoing growth of this well-established operation. Work a 5:2 roster allowing weekends off, with accommodation available for non-local candidates.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years' experience within mining or quarrying operations
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a supervisory, management or SSE capacity
- RII50120 Diploma of Surface Operations Management (or equivalent)
- RIIRIS501E (previously RIIRIS501D) Implement and Maintain Management Systems to Control Risk (or equivalent)
- BSBWHS521 Ensure a safe workplace for a work area (previously BSBWHS501), or an equivalent or superior qualification
- A recognised Shotfirer's Licence OR the three competency units: RIIBLA301E (previously RIIBLA301D) Conduct Surface Shot Firing Operations, RIIBLA205E (previously RIIBLA205D)Store, Handle and Transport Explosives and RIIBLA305E (previously RIIBLA305D) Conduct Secondary Blasting OR a recognised Safe Drilling and Blasting course
- Extensive knowledge of DTMR material classifications and specifications
- Proven ability to balance safety, production and commercial outcomes
- A current Australian Driver's Licence + General Construction Induction (White Card)
- A strong understanding of statutory obligations and operational requirements within the quarrying or mining sector
- Well-developed leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
