Senior Settlements Analyst

Job Summary

Validate CAISO market settlements by performing detailed shadow settlements, analyzing charge codes, and investigating variances across energy, ancillary services, and resource adequacy markets. Collaborate with Energy Management, Trading, and Accounting teams to resolve settlement exceptions, optimize revenue capture, and identify leakage opportunities. Develop automated controls, prepare detailed analyses for management and auditors, and ensure timely invoicing and payment of power market invoices. Monitor settlement timelines, coordinate with counterparties to resolve billing disputes, and implement process improvements while meeting monthly, quarterly, and year-end deadlines. Support implementation of CAISO market enhancements and regulatory changes within the renewable energy portfolio.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or equivalent major
  • 3+ years of experience supporting ISO market settlements, energy trading settlements, market operations, scheduling, or power market analytics
  • Working knowledge of ISO settlement statements and charge code structure
  • Experience conducting settlement reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills
  • Must possess strengths in the following and be willing to do research as needed: strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Commitment, ability, and prior experience in meeting deadlines for monthly and quarterly reporting, and special projects; preparing thorough and complete analyses and reconciliations with appropriate documentation and follow-up
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a demanding workload involving multiple tasks, responsibilities and deadlines with professional follow-through and minimal supervision
  • Self-starter with flexibility, desire and eagerness to learn and assume new responsibilities while maintaining ownership of the projects
  • Strong interpersonal, writing and communication skills
  • Must be able to meet with and participate in Operations meetings and be well versed in the project contracts in order to contribute to these meetings
  • Computer skills – Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)

Desired Qualifications

  • Subject matter expertise in CAISO settlements
  • Familiarity with CAISO tariff and Business Practice Manuals
  • Experience supporting market-facing renewable generation portfolios
