Job Summary
Senior Scientist in Respiratory Discovery leading in vitro and ex vivo studies to support target validation and translational biology across chronic lung diseases. Responsibilities include designing and executing primary airway epithelial culture systems, ALI models, immune assays, and co-culture platforms; generating mechanistic and disease-relevant datasets using molecular, cellular, imaging, and biomarker-based approaches; applying imaging (IHC, IF, high-content imaging) and flow cytometry for immune and cellular phenotyping; supporting translational biomarker discovery with multiplex platforms; conducting cell culture, PBMC isolation, PCR/qPCR, and biomarker assays; characterizing disease-relevant pathways in inflammatory, epithelial, fibrotic, and immune contexts; generating high-quality datasets to inform project decisions; and communicating findings through presentations and reports; collaborating across biology, pharmacology, DMPK, and translational/clinical functions in a matrixed environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of experience OR Master's with 4+ years OR PhD in biology, immunology, pharmacology, physiology, pulmonary biology or related discipline
- Demonstrated expertise in primary human cell culture systems, especially airway epithelial biology and ALI cultures
- Hands-on wet lab experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques
- Experience with flow cytometry/FACS and multiplex biomarker platforms (e.g., Meso Scale Discovery, Luminex, Olink, AlphaLISA)
- Expertise in imaging-based approaches (IHC, IF, ICC, histology) and image analysis
- Ability to independently design, troubleshoot, and interpret experimental studies
- Strong understanding of respiratory disease biology and inflammatory/epithelial mechanisms
- Excellent written and verbal communication for cross-functional collaborations
