Senior Scientist – Radio Frequency (RF) Measurements & Modeling

Job Summary
Lead advanced RF material characterization using waveguide, free-space, and coaxial probe methodologies while executing sample preparation and equipment modifications. Perform S-parameter extraction of complex permittivity and permeability, then develop and validate RF workflows including calibration and time-domain gating. Design, simulate, and test computational electromagnetic models using HFSS, COMSOL, or equivalent solvers to guide design optimization. Evaluate simulation, laboratory, and production data to recommend design or process improvements. Translate system-level requirements into modeling strategies and lead junior scientists in technical development. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to support government RF material research and prepare technical proposals for customers.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship
- Active Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI/SAP
- At least 8 years of RF measurement/modeling experience
- M.S. or Ph.D. in physics, electrical engineering, applied engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience
- Expertise with VNA workflows including waveguide, coaxial probe, and free-space techniques
- Experience with dielectric property extraction and generation of materials signature models
- Experience with computational electromagnetic solvers (e.g., HFSS, FEKO, CST, COMSOL, etc.)
- Deep understanding of electromagnetic theory, RF propagation, and computational modeling techniques (FEM, FDTD, MoM)
- Ability to lead technical teams and coordinate complex tasks
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly
