Job Summary
Perform fragrance extraction from consumer products using analytical techniques and conduct Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) analysis for profiling and ingredient characterization. Reconstruct fragrance compositions through analytical interpretation and plan complex studies supporting development projects. Generate structured datasets to support insights, provide analytical support for AI-driven design initiatives, and contribute to intellectual property programs. Present findings to cross-functional stakeholders and build partnerships with Perfumers and technical teams. This role is based in Holmdel, NJ and New York, NY (on-site) and involves working within IFF's global Body Care Business to drive sustainable fragrance innovation.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry or related scientific discipline
- Minimum 7 years of analytical chemistry experience in fragrance, consumer goods, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or related industries
- Proven ability to design scientific experiments and solve complex analytical challenges
- Hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting GC/MS instrumentation
- Strong knowledge of fragrance composition, essential oils, aroma chemicals, and specialty bases
- Experience with Gas Chromatography-Olfactometry (GC-O) and Gerstel systems
- Advanced data analysis and data management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- The role is based across Holmdel, NJ and New York, NY (on-site role)
Desired Qualifications
- Ph.D. preferred
- Advanced expertise in analytical chemistry within the fragrance industry
- Experience supporting fragrance performance or sensory science programs
- Knowledge of competitor technologies, patent landscapes, and emerging fragrance innovations
