Job Summary
Identify and advance high-value therapeutic targets in immunology, inflammation, and immuno-oncology aligned with organizational strategy. Independently design, execute, analyze, and interpret in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo studies to validate target biology, establish disease rationale, and generate decision-enabling data packages. Communicate progress through regular updates while proactively identifying challenges and proposing solutions. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to drive innovation and contribute to management activities supporting the San Carlos site's strategic objectives. May mentor junior scientists, research associates, and interns.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent advanced degree in one or more of the following areas : cancer biology, immuno-oncology, immunology, epithelial and stromal biology, stem cell biology or a related life sciences discipline
- 2+ years of related experience
- Demonstrated track record of scientific achievements, as evidenced by publications in high-impact journals
- Demonstrated ability to design experiments, generate high-quality data, analyze complex datasets, and communicate scientific findings effectively
- Hands-on experience with relevant laboratory techniques such as primary human/mouse epithelial and stromal cell culture, air-lift culture, epithelial organoid culture, cell line engineering, histology, IHC, IF, flow cytometry, ELISA, MSD, molecular biology methods, protein characterization, microscopy/high-content imaging, or related experimental platforms
- Ability to operate effectively in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, and interdisciplinary research environment, and to integrate multi-disciplinary approaches to solve complex biological problems
- Strong collaboration skills across functional and disciplinary boundaries
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Must be able to work onsite in San Carlos, California
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with one or more of the following: in vitro and in vivo disease models, AI-driven protein design, protein engineering, induced proximity technologies, synthetic biology approaches, or other innovative therapeutic platforms
- Knowledge of biologics, small molecules and other complex modalities, experience with omics data analysis, and/or preclinical immunology and oncology mouse models
