Job Summary
Senior-level Automation Scientist role focused on independently operating and maintaining automated systems for biochemical and cell-based assays, optimizing workflows for HTS/screening campaigns, and using data visualization to present results. Collaborates with scientists and engineers to implement new assays and provide training, with emphasis on data quality, traceability, and scalable, reliable screening operations across multiple therapeutic areas. Location-based in Rahway, NJ, with a strong emphasis on hands-on automation, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration to enable target and lead discovery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or similar with approximately 10 years of relevant experience in a laboratory automation environment (industry or equivalent academic/biotech experience) or an advanced degree (M.S.) with approximately 7 years of relevant experience in a laboratory automation environment (industry or equivalent academic/biotech experience)
- Experience with laboratory automation platforms used for HTS or similar high-throughput workflows
- Expertise with laboratory instrumentation such as low-volume bulk dispensers, acoustic sample transfer devices, and detectors
- Experience supporting biochemical and/or cell-based assays and/or arrayed CRISPR screens within an HTS or screening context
- Preventive maintenance coordination for complex instrumentation
- Troubleshooting skills for automation hardware and software issues
- Ability to optimize automated workflows and improve operational efficiency
- Attention to detail and data quality, SOP adherence
- Ability to manage multiple requests and work independently
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to provide technical guidance and training
- Preferred: Experience with Cellario Scheduler, Tempo scheduling software, Mosaic TFM
- Security/Compliance: Mentions of SOPs, data integrity
