Job Summary
Analyze new product designs and prototypes for user hazards, assess risks, and develop hazard mitigation requirements for innovative power tools. Document safety requirements in Product Safety Review and maintain them throughout the development phase. Communicate Product Safety requirements to project teams and provide safety input for user instruction manuals, warning labels, and marketing artwork. Mentor and train other Product Safety Engineers and product development teams on safety procedures and workflows. Support product investigations for testing and field returns, ensuring compliance with North American agency approvals and regulatory standards. This hybrid role requires 60% monthly in-office presence in Mount Prospect, Illinois. The position supports Bosch's renowned brands of handheld power tools, leveraging a legacy of engineering excellence and sustainability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in technical-related discipline
- Minimum 6-8 years of experience working in North American agency approvals (UL, CSA)
- Minimum 6-8 years of experience working in regulatory compliance (CFR, OSHA)
- Minimum 6-8 years of experience in new product development for consumer products
- Minimum 6-8 years of experience in quality engineering for new product development
- Experience analyzing and using power tools
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Ability to describe technical information to project teams
- Strong understanding of North American product safety requirements for product design
- Culturally sophisticated awareness of how North Americans will use power tools on job sites, homes, and yards
- Patient, and detail oriented with ability to proofread written instructions for logical errors, contradictions, or safety hazards
- Familiarity with hazard identification and methods to document countermeasures
- 60% monthly in-office presence in Mount Prospect, Illinois (3 days in office per week)
- Indefinite U.S. work authorization
