Job Summary
Senior Safety Engineer to implement Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety program across multiple construction project sites, lead OSHA reporting, safety audits, and analysis of injury and hazard statistics, and serve as a safety resource in meetings with clients, subcontractors, union representatives, and insurance risk engineers. Responsibilities include administering site-specific safety programs and training, documenting safety violations, reviewing safety submittals, and maintaining safety equipment. This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in safety or equivalent (or HS diploma with CHST/OSHA 500 plus extensive construction-safety experience), four years of construction-safety work, a valid driver’s license, proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety software, strong communication skills, and willingness to travel up to 100%. Beneficial factors include experience leading safety programs, incident analysis, and knowledge of industrial hygiene considerations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or equivalent
- OR High school diploma with CHST Certification, OSHA 500, and a minimum of 10 years construction experience leading crews and planning work, to include at least six years as a dedicated construction safety professional responsible for managing project safety programs, conducting / reviewing hazard analyses and developing controls, conducting safety training, and planning work activities or equivalent experience in a relevant field
- Minimum of four years of construction safety experience
- Current valid driver’s license
- Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant safety software programs
- Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills
- Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies effectively
- Willingness to travel up to 100%
