Senior Robotics Engineer (m/f/d) – Drone Port

Job Summary
Design and implement robotic capabilities for fully autonomous Drone Port operation, including perception algorithms for precision landing and localization. Develop closed-loop control systems, embedded software for sensor interfaces, and robust sensor fusion logic for cameras, IMUs, and ranging sensors. Integrate communication interfaces between the port, aircraft, and cloud infrastructure while supporting hardware bring-up and system validation in laboratory and field environments. Analyze test results to debug complex behaviors and improve system robustness. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to software architecture and coding standards. Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline
- Several years of professional experience developing robotic or autonomous systems
- Strong programming skills in modern C++ and Python
- Experience developing embedded software in C/C++
- Strong understanding of robotics fundamentals including: Perception, State estimation, Sensor fusion, Motion planning, Feedback control
- Experience with robotic middleware such as ROS or ROS2
- Experience integrating cameras, IMUs, LiDAR, UWB, radar or similar sensors
- Familiarity with computer vision libraries such as OpenCV
- Experience implementing real-time control systems
- Experience with machine learning for robotic perception
- Experience with Linux-based embedded systems
- Familiarity with Git and modern CI/CD development workflows
- Strong systems thinking and the ability to work across software, electronics and mechanics
- Fluent English
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with autonomous vehicles, UAVs, industrial robotics, mobile robots or automated machinery is highly desirable
