Job Summary
Design electrical systems and circuits, integrate sensors and actuators, and develop controls to deliver robust automation for inspection and field services. Define system architectures and lead teams through technical reviews, risk mitigation, and IP strategy development. Commission controllers and drive robotic solutions impacting gas turbines, electric machines, and wind turbines as a Principal Investigator for multi-disciplinary projects. Transition innovative concepts from the laboratory to deployed field solutions while collaborating with internal businesses, the U.S. government, and over 420 technology partners to execute on energy-focused initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)
- 5+ years of professional experience
- MS with 7+ years of experience in robotics/controls system design
- Demonstrated experience in at least three of the following: Robotic Systems, Electrical Design, Controls & Actuation, Industrial Automation, Development Tools
- Legal authorization to work in the US
- Must be 18 years or older
- Willingness to undergo a drug test and background investigation
- Willingness to work on-site in Niskayuna, NY
- Willingness to travel as business needs require
- Not a national of countries subject to comprehensive U.S. export restrictions unless holding U.S. person status
- Ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government

- Ability to convert high-level customer needs into technical development strategies and lead multi-partner projects
- Demonstrated ability to transition innovative concepts from the laboratory to prototypes and successfully deployed field solutions
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively in written and oral English to technical and executive audiences
- Innovative, willing to pursue new technical areas (e.g., ML-enabled control, digital twins), and capable of working independently
