Senior Roadway Transportation Engineer

Job Summary

Plan, design, and construct support for highway and urban projects, including roadway design, geometric design, drainage analysis, signal design, and traffic reports for City, County, and State agencies. Prepare and monitor project budgets, oversee project schedules, and serve as a project engineer and designated client contact. Assist in construction bids, negotiations, and contract preparation while stamping or sealing prepared work. Manage project personnel performance and maintain professional relations with clients and contractors. Requires a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, PE registration in MS, and 5+ years of experience in roadway planning and execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • PE registered in the State of MS or ability to obtain
  • 5+ years of experience in the technical production of engineering projects, including significant direct experience in the planning and execution of roadway and related projects
  • Working experience with Bentley MicroStation, GEOPAK/InRoads and OpenRoads Designer
  • Ability to prepare engineering records and write concise technical reports
  • Experience with the development of construction plans, specifications, and contracts
  • Superior communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge of company products and operations
  • Ability to manage a small number of projects

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in planning, design, and construction administration of projects in compliance with MDOT, and, particularly, LPA standards and practices
  • One to two years coordination/supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Synchro, Vissum or Sidra
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the implementation of public works infrastructure projects, particularly related to roadway and transportation
  • Understand principles of urban transportation planning, including traffic forecasting and analysis, land use planning and zoning
  • Understand and apply principles of traffic signalization to the design of roadway and intersection improvements
